The brief to the architect asked for "something imaginative," to explore the possibilities of building on a small and restricted town site in an architecturally barren area.
These early sketch designs proposed a private medical centre that would accommodate two doctors and provide spaces that could be leased to other specialists and therapists.
The entrance is from the street into a double height waiting area incorporating the reception and records storage. On the ground floor are two doctor's consulting rooms, each with an adjoining examination room.
A circular stair and small passenger lift both give access to the galleried first floor where four additional rooms provide space for a small pharmacy, a dental surgery, nursing staff and visiting therapists.
A staff lounge and kitchenette are located on the second floor.
